Colonel Charles Wilburn Dryer - Springdale

Colonel Charles Wilburn Dryer, 87, of Springdale, died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Springdale. He was born on Feb. 3, 1916, in Jonesboro. He was the son of Charles and Dorothy Cook Dryer and had served in the United States Army and retired as a Colonel. He served in World War II, Korean and Viet Nam wars.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Murial G. Harper Harris Dryer, of Springdale; two sons, Charles B. Dryer of Memphis, Tenn., and Robert D. Dryer of Blytheville; a daughter, Lynne Hehr of Fayetteville; a sister, Genevieve Lyttle of Blytheville; and seven grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elisabeth (Betsy) Dryer; six sisters, India Maxine Dryer, Jamie Westphal, Emma Frances Dryer, Grace Woodard, Christine Garner, and Louise Holt; and a brother, Aldwin Dryer.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Monette Cemetery with Rev. Zane Gragg officiating. Gregg Funeral Home of Monette was in charge of arrangements.
