Mary Bohannon Wheeler - Leachville

Mary Bohannon Wheeler, 84, of Leachville, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at her home. Born in Senath, she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Lilly Bohannon and was a Leachville resident since 1940. She and her husband owned and operated Wheeler Furniture and Hardware in Leachville for over 40 years. Mrs. Wheeler was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Leachville for 62 years.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joe Wheeler of Leachville; two daughters, Judy Wilson of Jonesboro and Joan Field of Leachville; a sisters, Lois Hubbard of Venice, Calif.; five grandchildren, Gena Wilson, Kurtiss Guntharp, both of Jonesboro, Joe Field of Zephyrhills, Fla., Kechia Bentley of Russellville, and John Field of Leachville; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, five sisters and one great-grandson, Austin Wheeler Bentley.

The funeral was held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Leachville with Rev. Doug Applegate and Rev. Jerry Kausler officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.

The family requests anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial to consider the First Baptist Church in Leachville or the St. Bernard's Hospice Program.

Pallbearers were Joe Field, John Field, Don Bentley, Bob Wheeler, Larry Garrison and Jessie Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers were Jim Burrier, James Lee Poe, Dr. T.N. Rodman, Earl Wildy, Tom Marshall, Wayne Taylor, Terrell Kirby, Mac Williams, Deacons of the Leachville First Baptist Church and the Baraca Sunday School Class.
