Billy Joe Fears - Paragould

Billy Joe Fears, 70, of Paragould, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Arkansas Mehtodist Hospital in Paragould. Born at Leachville, he was the son of the late William and Rosie Smith Fears and had lived most of his life in the Leachville and Paragould areas. He was retired from the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for 15 years in the Brimmerton Naval Shipyard in Brimmerton, Wash. He was a member of the East Main Church of Christ in Paragould.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Puckett Fears of the home; a daughter, Brenda Fears Johnson, of Linden, Utah; a step-son, Dennis Charles Blocker, of Blytheville; two step-daughters, Karen Langston and Patti Scott, both of El Dorado; two brothers, Alfred Ray Fears of Piggott, and Terry Lynn Fears of Paragould; a sister, Geneva Fears of Paragould; a cousin, Tessie Hutchison of Paragould; an uncle, Barney Fears of Stanford.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Anderson Fears.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Dale House officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh Cemetery in Paragould.
