Lady Revels victorious over Marmaduke

Wednesday, April 9, 2003

Riverside's Lady Rebels used timely hitting and a strong pitching performance from freshman Samantha Dunigan enroute to a 15-5 conference victory over the Marmaduke Greyhounds.

Miranda Stephens belted a bases loaded triple to highlight the Lady Rebel offensive outburst in the home opener for Riverside.

The next two games were not as kind to the young Lady Rebel Team as Gosnell's Chloe Whitaker pitched a one-hit shutout in the Lady Pirates 14-0 win. Whitaker helped her own cause at the plate going 3 for 4, with a pair of doubles and 4 RBI's for the 6-2 Pirates.

In the completion of a game delayed by rain the first week of the season, Bay's Lady Yellowjackets rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Riverside 11-4.

The Lady Rebels enter this week's action with a 1-4 overall mark, 1-2 in league play.

Riverside will play at home Monday and Tuesday against CRA and Bay, respectively. The Lady Rebels then hit the road, traveling to Rector Wednesday and Marmaduke on Thursday.

"We've got a good chance to compete in conference play," said Lady Rebel Head Coach Nancy Ritter. "We have moved some people around and are improving with every game." She added.

The Lady Rebels have a chance to make a positive move in league play with the four conference games this week.
