Robert Joseph "Bob" Roe - Leachville

Robert Joseph "Bob" Roe, 66, of Leachville died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Brooklyn, N.Y., he had been a resident of Northeast Arkansas for most of his life. He was a 1954 graduate of Paragould High School and he served in the United States Army. He was retired from EIS Brake Parts in Manila and was well known throughout Northeast Arkansas having officiated in high school basketball and softball for many years. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Leachville.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Welch Roe of the home; a son, Kyle Roe of Trumann; a daughter, Terry Rose of Leachville; his mother-in-law, Hazel Welch of Leachville; a brother, Charles Roe of Paragould; three sisters, Jeannette Porter of Yazoo City, Miss., Theresa Morrow and Pat Cosby, both of Paragould, and seven grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Don Wilson and Rev. Doug Applegate officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Hugh Wayne Rose, Leon Swihart, Frank Sweet, Tom Puckett, Tommy Eldried and A.J. Bandy.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the junior and senior high girls and boys athletic teams and cheerleaders.

The family requests that anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the Leachville First United Methodist Church and the BIC Scholarship Fund.
