MANILA Manila's Senior Lady Lions picked up three big conference wins last week against Osceola, Trumann and Harrisburg, to improve to 6-3 in league play.
Manila defeated Osceola Thursday as Natalie Tippy and Marilou Perez combined for all of the Lady Lions 23 fourth quarter points to pull ahead and take a 45-40 win.
Osceola jumped out to an 18-9 first quarter lead and held on to a 22-17 halftime advantage. The Lady Seminoles outscored Manila 10-5 for a 32-22 third quarter lead before Manila came back in the fourth.
Natalie Tippy led MHS with 18 followed by 12 from Marilou Perez and 11 from Deborah White. Christina Lester and Whitney Shepard rounded out scoring for the Lady Lions with two each.
The Lady Lions defeated Trumann on Monday 53-34. After holding on to a slim 19-18 halftime lead, Manila outscored Trumann 18-4 in the third to push ahead 37-22 before going on to take the win.
Marilou Perez led Manila with 21 and Natalie Tippy added 10. Others scoring for MHS were Christina Lester eight; Michelle Eubanks six; Amanda Henson four; Deborah White two and Whitney Shepard two.
The Junior Lady Wildcats defeated Manila 49-16. Alex Guthrie led Trumann with 12 followed by 10 from Shandi Clayton. Others scoring for Trumann were Caitlyn Brune seven; Jess Byrd seven; Lacey Booker six; Lindsey Davis three; and two each from Lindsey Owens and Mallory McClung.
Kari Rameriz led Manila with eight. Katie Veach added six and Myra Earnest two for MJHS.
