Lady Lions split for the week

MANILA -- The Lady Lions split two this week defeating Gosnell on Monday and falling to Valley View on Thursday. The Lady Lions led 17-11 after one and 30-24 at the half. Outscoring Manila 9-2 in the third and 16-8, the Lady Blazers took the Conference win 49-40.

Marilou Perez led MHS with 14 points. Others scoring were Natalie Tippy 9; Christina Lester 8; Deborah White 7; and Audrey Booth 2.

Valley View's Jill Shrable led all scorers with 20.

Valley View defeated Manila 49-19 in junior high action. Katie Veach and Kari Rameriz led Manila with five points each. Michelle Daniel added four, Rachel Cheadle put in three and Elizabeth Studabaker scored two to round out scoring.

The Lady Lions picked up a conference win with a 45-31 score over Gosnell's Lady Pirates. Manila took a 10-6 lead in the first and enjoyed an 18-11 advantage at the half. The Lady Lions continued to roll with a 28-18 after three and on to the win in the final frame.

Marilou Perez led MHS with 13. Others scoring for Manila were Christina Lester 9; Deborah Whtie 8; Amanda Henson 6; Michelle Eubanks 5; Natalie Tippy 4.

Gosnell's Ava Lamb led all scorers with 21.

Gosnell took advantage of Manila's cold second half to win 33-28. The junior Lady Lions led 16-7 after one and 22-17 at the half. Gosnell used a 4-0 third quarter and 12-6 fourth to get the win.

Katie Veach led MJHS with 12 followed by 10 from Kari Rameriz. Rachel Cheadle and Michelle Daniel rounded out Manila's scoring with 4 and 2 respectively.

Manila won the Junior "B" game whipping Gosnell 34-1. Heather Dozier led Manila with 12. Candace Halford, Amy Browning, and Samantha Quinn added 6 points each followed by Myra Earnest with 4.
