Jewel Chavies, 80, of Caraway, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Heber Springs, she was the daughter of the late Aim and Lela Waters and had been a Caraway resident for the past 54 years. She was the widow of Hubert Chavies and was of the Church of Christ faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Bobbie Reams, of Manila; a brother, T.J. Waters, of Greers Ferry; a sister, Cleo Gentry, of Bono; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Caraway Cemetery with Rev. Waymon Holt officiating. Burial was under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.
