James "Jim" Bailey, 69, of Leachville, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at his home. Born at Leachville, he was the son of the late Jesse and Nell Ruth McHaney Bailey. He attended Leachville public schools and was a graduate of South Eastern State College in Hammond, La. He was a retired Air Force master sergeant and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member and past post commander of the Herman Davis American Legion Post in Manila. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1991 in Jonesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Roche Bailey of the home; two brothers, Joe Bailey of Byron, Mich., and Bob Bailey of Navarre, Fla.; and a sister, Amy Nell Cagle of Eupora, Miss.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, James Bailey, Jr., Jane Marie Bailey and Janet Lynn Williams.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Howard Funeral Service Chapel at Leachville with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Martin, Robert Trammell, Bob Wamble, R.A. Davidson, Carroll Douglas, Freddy Vandiver and Kenneth Ashabranner.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the American Legion Post 197 of Manila.
