JONESBORO The Buffalo Island Central Lady Mustangs easily cruised past Walnut Ridge in first round action of the NEA tournament last Friday with a 44-29 win, but succumbed to fifth-seeded Turrell in the second round. Turrell went on win the girls A-AA bracket of the tournament Saturday evening with a victory over Rivercrest.
Sara Walker led BIC in scoring with 15 points. She also pulled down 12 boards.
Against Turrell, the Lady Mustangs came up short, 52-37, to the undefeated Lady Rockets.
Walker again led BIC in the effort, tossing in 10 points. Valerie Willyerd and Leslie Cobb each notched 9.
Freshman Anshel Cooper led Turrell with 15.
