Manila Lions fall to BIC in tournament semifinals
LEPANTO Manila fell to Buffalo Island Central 57-51 in semi-final action of the Tri County Tournament . The Lions led 16-11 after one and 30-28 at the half. Manila went cold in the third as BIC outscored the Lions 13-5 to take a 41-35 lead. Both teams scored 16 in the final quarter giving BIC the advance to final action.
The Lions were led by Nate Morries with 15. Others scoring for Manila were Mitchell Gammill 9; Matt Noble 9; Justin Kirk 8; Boo Grayson 6; Jordan Wise and Justin Hill 2 each.
BIC was led by Brandon Ballard's 19 points followed by 17 from Brooks Taylor and 10 from Josh Shepard. Others scoring were Mark Teguns 7 and Cal Rose 4.
Manila defeated Armorel inf irst round action 66-36. Justin Hill led MHS with 20 points. Also scoring were Mitchell Gammill 8; Matt Noble 8; Justin Kirk 7; John Hicks 5; Nate Morries 4; Jordan Wise 4; and 2 each from Boo Grayson, Casey Hill, Adam McDaniel, Derrick Wright, and Randy Murray.
The Junior Lions fell to BIC in second round action 58-47. Jackey parker led Manila with 12 followed by Dustin Hoebeck with 10. Others scoring were Codie Wells 8; Zac Williams 8; Chase Shelton 4; Anthony Cavazos 3; P.J. Brumley 2.
Dereck Rolland led BIC with 25 followed by Cord Rose with 13; and Hunter Smith 11. Others scoring were Larry Reed 4; Eric Wallace 3; Randy Ibanez 1 and Lance Davis 1.
Codie Wells scored 24 points leading Manila's comeback victory over Paragould 54-48. The Junior Lions trailed 15-10 after one and 35-19 at the half. Manila roared back scoring 25 points in the third and 10 in the final frame.
Joining Wells in double figures were Jackey Parker scoring 12 and Chase Shelton scoring 11. Zac Williams added 3 followed by Dustin Hobeck and Kyle Misner with 2 each.
