Manila picked up two wins to improve to their overall record to 4-4. The Lions defeated Armorel Friday night 45 - 29. Manila jumped out to a 13 -3 first quarter lead and held the Tigers to two points in the second quarter to hold a 27 - 10 cushion at the half. Manila led 35 - 14 after three and held on for the win in the fourth.
Nate Morries led Manila with 13 points. Others scoring in the match up were: Justin Hill - 7; Mitchell Gammill - 6; Matt Noble - 4; Boo Grayson - 4; Justin Kirk - 3; John Hicks - 3; Josh McDaniel - 3; and Randy Murray - 2.
Manila came out sluggish in the first quarter Tuesday night against the Parkin Tigers trailing 18 - 8. The Lions outscored Parkin 19 - 15 in the second to pull within six, 33 -27, at the half. Manila pulled within four in the third before taking the lead in fourth and holding on to a 59 -52 win.
Senior Mitchell Gammill led all scorers with 19 points followed by 13 from Justin Hill. Others scoring in the victory were: Nate Morries - 9; Matt Noble - 7; Jordan Wise - 4; Justin Kirk - 3; John Hicks - 2; and Boo Grayson - 2.
Manila's junior Lions picked up their second win of the season with a 57 - 47 win over Armorel. Freshman Jackey Parker led all scorers with 23 points followed by 12 from Kyle Misner. Adding to the victory were: Cody Wells - 6; Chase Shelton - 6; Anthony Cavazos - 4; P.J. Brumley - 4; and Dustin Hoebeck - 2. Keith Cassidy led Armorel with 15 points followed by 11 from Tim Kirk.
The junior Lions lost a hard fought battle against Parkin Tuesday night 49 -44. Jackey Parker led MJHS with 11 points; Kyle Misner had nine; Anthony Cavazos scored seven; Dustin Hobeck and Zac Williams added six each; P.J. Brumley put in three; and Chase Shelton scored two. Parkin's Marvin Collins led all scorers with 18.
