Manila Lady Lions split two

Manila played an outstanding game Thursday but fell short at the end losing to the Westside Warriors 44 -40. The Lady Lions trailed 10 - 8 in the first but came back to take a 21 - 20 lead at the half. The Lady Warriors outscored Manila 11 - 9 in the third to take a 31 - 30. Westside hit four straight free throws in the final seconds to secure the win.

Marilou Perez led Manila with 12 points followed by eight each from Christina Lester and Michelle Eubanks. Others scoring in the game were: Deborah White - six; Amanda Henson - four; and Natalie Tippy - two. Alisha Golden led Westside with 16.

The Lady Lions enjoyed an easy win over Parkin Tuesday 64 - 30. Four players scored in double figures for Manila. Marilou Perez led with 15 followed by 13 from Natalie Tippy; 12 from Deborah White and 10 from Amanda Henson. Also scoring were: Christina Lester - 6; Michelle Eubanks - 4; Julie Dawson - 2; and Audrey Booth - 2. Manila jumped out to 23 - 4 lead in the first and pushed the lead to 41 - 22 at the half. Outscoring Parkin 19 - 6 in the third the Lady Lions enjoyed a 60 - 28 lead in the third before taking the win.

The junior Lady Lions lost their only game of the week falling to the junior Lady Warriors of Westside 45 - 26. Seventh grader Michelle Daniel led MJHS with 10 points followed by nine from Rachel Cheadle. Others scoring were Katie Veach - 3; Kari Rameriz - 2; and Codie King - 2.
