The BIC 14 and under slow pitch softball team recently competed in the regional softball tournament held in North Little Rock, where teams from Arkansas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma, were represented.

The girls first game was against the Arkansas state champion team, The Dirt Dobbers, which they lost with a score of 8 to 6. The Dirt Dobbers went on to win the tournament to become the regional champs, and also the two runs would be the closest game that any of the teams had played against.

BIC won the second game by a score of 15-5 against the runner-up state champions out of Mississippi.

The girls third game was delayed by rain for an hour, with the score at 6-0. In the bottom of the 7th inning, BIC went to bat, behind 6 runs. After the rain delay the girls tied the game 6-6, and went into extra innings. BIC lost after 10 innings with a final score 10-12.

"Teammates, coaches and parents agreed that this game was the most of the most exciting and best games they had played that day, and probably one of the most memorable," said Cindy Carle. "Coaches from the other states talked about what a great team the girls had and that they had good sportsmanship."

Five of the BIC players were unable to attend the tournament, which included: Rachel Dunigan, Ashley Matheny, Haley Smith, Sam Matthews and Brittney Berry.
