First annual Manila youth golf tournament held

The Manila Jr. Golf Association hosted its first annual adult/junior tournament at Big Lake Country Club Monday, Aug. 12.

Thirteen teams participated in the three-person scramble. The tournament was a fund-raiser for the Mississippi County Jr. Golf League directed by C.W. Cummings. The event raised approximately $2,000 through the generosity of area businesses and individuals.

Several businesses donated prizes for hole prizes and drawings. Members of the association held a drawing for $100 that was won by Bobby Tucker of Manila.

Teams included Kevin Sandford, Luke Sandord and Zach Wicker; Hobson Elrod, Hobby Elrod, Ricky McCallie and Travis McCallie; Jon Jones, Justin Hager and Jennifer Young; Andrew Moore, Bob Nangle, and Bobby Nangle; Kim Anderson, Randi Moore and Michelle Eubanks; Nelson Morris, Pat Morris and Cody Eichorn; David Shedd, Trina Shedd and Michael Shedd; David Davis, Bo Grayson and Drew Warren; Brad Billings, Terry Cole and David Cole; Jay Gee, Chris Crosno and Glen Brown; Marge Hale, Greg Predmore and Chris Predmore; Van Gilbert, Wayne Shedd and Justin Jaco; Rick Sparks, Diane Sparks and Shonda Sparks.

First, second and third trophies were awarded in three flights, A, B and C.

Winners of Flight A included: Gee/Crosno/Brown, first place; Davis/Grayson/ Warren, second place; Jones/Hager/Young, third place;

Winners of Flight B are: Elrod/Elrod/McCallie/McCallie, first place; Gilbert/Shedd/Jaco, second place; Shedd/Shedd/Shedd, third place.

Winners of Flight C are Sanford/Sanford/Wicker, first place; Sparks/Sparks/Sparks, second place; Morris/Morris/Eichorn, third place.
