Several upcoming events scheduled to benefit the first annual Buffalo Island Cancer Relay for Life.

Wrestling set in Leachville for Aug. 24

Athletes from the world of wrestling continue to demonstrate their skills in the sport and at the same time revealing themselves to be leaders in the fight against cancer.

A major wrestling card will take the mats at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Buffalo Island Central Gymnasium. A few of the named that will appear are Tony "The Bull" Ramirez, "Wild Thang" Max Mayhem, "Ebony Idol: Reggie Montgomery, Johnny Hawk and Mountain Man Mike.

Admission will be $5 for adults and $4 for 6-12. Children under six will be admitted free. This is the third benefit the wrestlers have held on Buffalo Island.

Pancake breakfast set in Monette Aug. 24

The Monette firefighters will host a pancake breakfast at 7-10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Monette Fire Station. The only fee is what the diner wishes to donate to the Buffalo Island Raly for Life. Chief Bob Blankenship adds his "guarantee of satisfaction" to all that come for breakfast.

Sunday dinner set for Sept. 15 in Monette

The third event sponsored by the Monette volunteer fire department is a dinner that will be served on Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Buffalo Island Central Elementary School cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is a $5 donation.
