BIC School hires personnel
The Buffalo Island Central School board members filled several positions during the June 10 meeting.
Melinda McFarlin was hired east elementary classroom instructor.
Gary Thomas was hired as east elementary custodian. Lisa Hale was hired as custodian half time during school term and full time during the summer months. She will attend the west gymnasium, music building and other duties as assigned.
Lynda Taylor was appointed for summer migrant pre-school program instructor.
Bubby McFarlin was transferred to include custodian of west elementary, shuttle driver and "standing" substitute driver for the west campus.
Board member John Field made a motion to accept the resignation of Neva Bates, cafeteria East. The motion passed unanimously. (Bates will reapply for this position in July.)
The transfer request for Bailey Towell (age 5) to the Manila School District was approved.
A discussion was held concerning the condition of existing facilities, current and future needs of the district.
The board approved seeking a 3 mill increase to fund projects including the construction of a new gymnasium on the west campus, renovation of problem areas in the junior high building, renovation and or addition of dressing room areas, upgrade HVAC system at the east gymnasium, with the excess funds to be used to fund projects as determined necessary by the district.
