William Arvel Dunkerson, 86, of Black Oak, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was retired from Craighead County Road Department, a member of the Caraway First Baptist Church, had lived in the Black Oak and Caraway area most of his life.
He is survived three sons, J.L. Dunkerson, Dennis Dunkerson and Jerry Dunkerson, all of Caraway; a sister, Hallie Toombs of Black Oak; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Dunkerson, and a daughter, Gouilda Hurst, and a sister.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Caraway Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Stevens officiating. Burial was in the Caraway Cemetery.
Grandsons served as active pallbearers and granddaughters were honorary pallbearers.
