Monette Class of 1962 holds reunion

The Monette High School Class of 1962 hold their 40 year reunion Saturday, May 25, at the Holiday Inn in Jonesboro.

Classmates enjoyed a 2-4 p.m. drop-in reception followed by a 7:30 p.m. dinner.

Special guests included former school superintendent Robert Shannon and his wife, Jane, who served as school secretary; Mearl Henry and his wife, Angie, class sponsor; and Melda Strickland, class sponsor, and her husband Russell.

Class vice president Phil Ball welcomed everyone and told the group that President John Watson was unable to attend due to Watson being in the hospital.

Ball did a price comparison from 1944 to 1962 and noted that the price of gold did not change. It was $35 an ounce.

Classmates attending the reunion included Betty Woodsmall Raines, Gloria Watson Bridges, Revis and Nancy Howell Stewart, Cheryl Clark Cook, Jerry McElroy, Kenny and Barbara Dawson Meacham, Bill Craig, Rickey Brewer, Larry Davis, Cheryl Melville Pasmore, Phil Ball, Robbie Finch, Kathy McCord Drummond, Doris Warner, Donnie Dunivan, Jim Pace, Jerry Hogan, Labelva McClelland Ammons and Tommye Taylor Gairhan

The group remembered their deceased classmates by name> They include Jackie Hout, Gary Cornish, Junior Mask, Dickey Reed, Brenda Bray, Janet Crump, Jesse Smith, Nelda Johnson, Danny Johnson and Wyvonne Whitley.

The 1962 seniors discussed and approved another reunion in five years.
