Coach Bill Taylor of Buffalo Island Central has been selected to represent the AA Division in the upcoming All-Star basketball games scheduled for June 20.
Each conference picks a coach to be placed on the ballot and the All-Star coaching staff is selected by fellow coaches. A second vote is taken to select the head coach of each team.
There are eight conferences represented in the East AA on the initial ballot.
Taylor said that he appreciated being nominated by the coaches in his conference.
In The East Boys Staff, Taylor will join head coach Dion Hargrove of Viola, Bert Martin of Hamburg, Bobby Gross of Wynne and Clarence Finley of Little Rock Center.
The West Boys coaching staff includes head coach Gary Shoptaw of Poyen, Warren Bane of Nemo Vista, Larry Newsom of Prescott, Roger Franks of Searcy and Ricky Tucker of Camden Fairview.
For the Girls' All Star Game, the East coaching staff includes head coach David Moon of Osceola, Dell Leonard of Mountain Home, Harlan Davis of Highland, Matt Dean of Maramduke and Lindle Blevins of Mount Pleasant.
The West Girls Staff included head coach Clay Reeves of Greenland, Rick Treadway of Sheridan, Shelly Davis of Morrilton, Ron Rippy of Ozark and Len Harris of Wonderview.
Taylor said the games are being held this year at the Bud Walton Arena on the University of Arkansas Campus in Fayetteville on Thursday, June 20. He said it should be exciting to play where the Razorbacks play.
This will be Taylor's second time to be chosen as assistant coach for the All-Star Games. He participated in 1997 at Conway.
Taylor has been coaching at BIC for four years.
He has five seniors on this year's team. He said the senior boys had a great finish this season.
"The fact that I am in this game is a by-product of the hard work of my players," Taylor said.
Coach Taylor is also very pleased for one of his players, Erick Lyerly, who has been chosen to play on the East All-Star team.
Also, Taylor's son, Brooks, is going to be one of the managers for the All-Star team and be a part of the games.
