Evelyn Jo Barham, 79, of Monette died Wednesday, April 24, 2002. Born at Black Oak, she had lived most of her life in the Monette area. She was a member of the Monette Church of Christ, a retired school teacher and member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include three brothers, Paul Bowden of Jonesboro, Harold Bowden of Ozark Acres, and Rueben Bowden of Mio, Mich.; two sons, Michael Lee Ashley of Manila and John Robert Ashley of Monette; a daughter, Edna Ann Coggin of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Rhonda Ashley, John Lee Ashley, Thomas Kane Ashley, Michael Brent Coggin and Micah Larissa Coggin; and a great-grandson.
Services were 2 p.m. Friday at the Monette Church of Christ, Larry Woodard, Jerry Verkler and Bill Verkler officiating. Burial was in Monette Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
Active pallbearers were Jordan Wood, Cade Qualls, Rusty Craig, Wade Spikes, Wyeth Spikes and Wade Gathright.
Honorary pallbearers were Martha Jane Hout, Lucille Bell, F.M. Wilson, Louise McFarlin, Nina Finch, Freda Matheny, Claribel Finch, Duck Andrews, Mildred Dunigan, Darlene Chrisco, Louise Hicks, Virginia Cooper, Clara Lovelady, Edna Dowless and Louise Benton.
