Manila Lions fall to Trumann, 7-4

Trumann remained undefeated in conference play with a 7-4 win over Manila Thursday at Manila.

Trumann took an early 1-0 lead in the first on a double by Lee Cossey to score a run. Cossey came back with a two run homer in the third to push the Wildcats lead to 3-0.

Manila had three errors in the fifth giving up three runs. Matt Noble's sacrifice fly to right field put Manila on the board trailing 6-1.

Manila picked up three runs in the sixth. Scott Townsend's long base hit scored two of the three runs for the Lions. John Hicks picked up the pitching loss giving up two runs, striking out five and allowing two walks.

Revis Kemper earned the victory for Trumann. Kemper struck out four and allowed only two walks.

Lee Cossey went 3 for 4 at the plate with a home run, double, and base hit.

Kemer, Matt york, Alex Henry, John Harvison and Ryan Bane all had singles.

Juan Moyeda also went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and two singles.

Scott Townsend, John McDaniel, and Derek Suiter all had base hits.

Manila fell to Valley View 5-3 and 14-4 in double header action Monday.

Senior Adam Donner's three run homer in the fifth scored the Lions only runs. Scott Townsend also had a base hit. John Hicks took the pitching loss striking out five.

The Lions fell 14-4 in the second game. Townsend picked up the loss striking out seven. Matt Noble and Josh Morris picked up doubles followed by Noah Shelton, John Hicks and Jordan Wise with a single each.

Matt Noble struck out six and allowed one hit in the 16-2 romping of Armorel Tuesday. Juan Moyeda led Manila with three singles and a triple with one RBI. Noble had a triple and single with three RBIs; John Hicks had two singles and two RBIs; Adam Donner had a single with an RBI; Derek Suiter had a single with an RBI; and Jordan Wise had a single and two RBIs.

Despite an outstanding pitching effort by Scott Townsend, the Manila Lions fell to Harrisburg 3-1.

Townsend struck out 12 and allowed only four hits. Townsend also led the Lions at plate picking up two base hits. Picking up a base hit were Noah Shelton, Matt Noble, Adam Donner, Juan Moyeda and Derek Suiter.

Matt Noble picked up his second pitching win of the week as the Lions defeated Osceola 12-6. Noble struck out seven in the victory.

Hitting for the Lions were Casey Hill - double, single, RBI; Josh McDaniel - double, single, RBI; Chris McCormick - double; Matt Noble - single, RBI; Juan Moyeda - single; Scott Townsend - single.
