Fast pitch comes to Manila
Softball has a new look in Manila. The old slow pitch style is out and the new fast pitch is taking its place. Along with the pitching, differences, runners can steal bases.
The Lady Lions return two starters that have seen fast pitch action. Junior Christina Lester moves to the catcher's position this season with Natalie Tippy on the mound. These two players have played fast pitch the past two summers.
Kacie Oates returns to play first base and second base will be covered by Corey Grayson. Morgan Moore can be seen at shortstop and will also relieve pitch.
Renee Yarbro, the only senior, will take on third base. Megan Ashabranner, Amanda Henson, Jamie Yancey and Connie Brown will cover the outfield.
Manila opened up at home against Blytheville Friday. The Lady Lions showed a lot of skills despite the 24-8 score.
Megan Ashabranner did an outstanding job at the plate picking up a double and a base hit with three RBIs.
Connie Brown hit two singles, and Natalie Tippy scored an RBI on a single. Morgan Moore batted in two runs for Manila.
