Billy Joe Roper - Leachville

Billy Joe Roper, 50, of Leachville died Friday, March 8, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was employed by Barton's and had lived in the Leachville area most of his life. He was of the Pentecostal belief.

He is survived by his wife, Magean Roper of the home; two daughters, Ann Penix of Leachville, and Vickie Roper of the home; five sisters, Rosie Freeman of Screaton, Ga., Mary McCall of Swifton, Ann Lyles of Swifton, Juanita Trimmer of Decatur, Ill., and Sue Cagle of Jonesboro; three borthers, Claudy Roper of Broken Arrow, Okla., Albert Roper of Laplace, Ill., and William Roper of Swifton; one grandson, Trevor Penix.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert A. Roper and Nettie Iona Roper; four brothers, Arthur Henry (Ottie) Roper, Arthur Allen Roper, Morgan Lee Roper, and Tom Roper; and a sister, Ethel Winana Roper.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Monday, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Jared Whittington officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery with Gregg Funeral Home of Monette in charge of arrangements.
