Doris Clara Covey, 89, of Leachville died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at the Johnson Hobson Care Home in Marion. Born in Ladelle, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Effie Baker Johnson and had been a Leachville resident for most of her life. She was a retired Avon representative and owned and operated Covey's Service Stations with her late husband, Luther "Luke" Covey. She was a longtime member of the Leachville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Donald Covey of marion; a daughter, Melba Jean Morris of Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Belle Johnson of Bartlett, Tenn., Nyline Avitts of Fountain Hill, Mildred Brown of Rockwall, Texas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) at the Leachville First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Bray officiating. Burial will be in the Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.
