Riverside teams split wins

Senior Girls

The Riverside Rebels senior girls beat Rector 54-51 in overtime in a well-matched contest on Jan. 7.

"This one was back and forth. It could have really gone either way. These two teams match up really well, and this was the second time we've gone into overtime with them," Coach Greg Rainwater said.

Melody Ward led the Rebels with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Amanda Jo Churchill had 10 points and nine rebounds for Riverside.

Jessica Hill led Rector with 16, and Sarah Parmenter had 10.

Junior Girls>/b>

The Riverside Junior girls defeated Rector handily 37-26 on Jan. 7.

"The third quarter was our best quarter. We got some turnovers and some easy buckets. We got outstanding defense from Jae Ashabranner. She guarded Rector's best player and held her to three points," Coach Greg Rainwater commented.

Torie Gray led Riverside with nine points. Whitney Shasteen and Jae Ashabranner had seven apiece. Ashley Foster added eight points for the Rebels.

Tracer led Rector with eight points.

Riverside vs. BIC

The Riverside senior girls outlasted Buffalo Island Central by a score of 52-50 Jan. 10 in an ugly but exciting overtime battle.

Both teams had a lot of foul trouble. Three Riverside players fouled out. The BIC point guard fouled out. Kids were going back and forth to the bench.

Amanda Dunnigan led the Rebels with 17 points and nine rebounds. Keryn Douglas had 11 points.

Morgan Milligan led Buffalo Island with 17. Sarah Walker added 13.

The Riverside Junior girls topped Buffalo Island 36-34 in a close one. Coach Greg Rainwater said, "This was a cold shooting night for both teams, and we managed to get the last bucket."

Torie Gray led the Rebels with 11. Amanda Milligan added 10 points.

Nan Lee Bridges led BIC with 15.

Riverside Boys versus Walnut Ridge

The Riverside Sr. boys lost to Walnut Ridge on Jan. 8 by the score 64 to 41.

Walnut Ridge's Ronnie Tagge went 11 for 11 from the free throw line and poured in 37 points.

Dustin Kelems led Riverside with 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Riverside Jr. Boys edged out Walnut Ridge in the final minutes of a tight ballgame. This one was tied at 13 at the half, and the Rebels came out on top 28-27 in the end.

Jeremy Mann led the Rebels with 8. Zach ridge and Tyler Timms each put in 6 points.

Walnut Ridge's Chance Weeks had 11.
