Mildred Lois Slankerd, 72, of Manila, died Saturdary, Jan. 5, 2002, at her home. Born at Waverly, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Ann George Curtis. She was a longtime Manila area resident and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by a son, Bobby Wayne Slankerd of Monette; three daughters, Ann Gipson of Monette, Dorothy Blake and Mary Sammons, both of Manila; two brothers, Robert Curtis of Thayer, Mo., and Earl Curtis of Moentte; three sisters, Jewel Brown of Lepanto, Shirley Ohler of Keiser, and Wanda Haygood of Waverly, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Slankerd in 1963.
The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
