Lady Rebels capture win over Tuckerman

Wednesday, January 2, 2002

This game was close through the first half. The Lady Rebels' usually effective press didn't have much of an effect until the third period when Tuckerman's best player was out with foul trouble. "We were a little late on steals in the first half, but the press finally wore them down," said Coach Rainwater. The coach ran different defenses at Tuckerman and the girls did a good job of switching tactics. "I though we did an excellent job of playing within the team framework. We took an eight point lead into the fourth quarter and held it calmly," said Rainwater. The final was 58-37, Riverside. The Rebels got outstanding play from Keryn Douglas, who had 20 points. Melody Ward got in the double-double column with 11 points and 10 boards. Amy Barrett poured in 14 points, seven boards, and seven steals. Chelsea Couch added seven. Gillian led Tuckerman with 12.
