The Lady Lions fell to 8-10 overall with a 55-45 loss to the Lady Yellowjackets of Bay on Monday night. Manila trailed 10-7 in the first and 20-15 at the half. Bay pushed their lead to 34-24 in the third. Manila tied Bay in the fourth as both teams scored 21 points but the Lady Lions could not overcome the deficit.
Natalie Tippy led MHS with 17 points followed by 15 from Christina Lester. Michelle Eubanks added eight, Marilou Perez put in three and Sarah Master had two to round out scoring for Manila.
Bay was led by Jessica Moreno with 19, Jodi Pratt had 13 and Kim Bradford 11.
The Junior Lady Lions looked as if they had started Christmas vacation a little early as they could not score in the 51-15 pounding from Bay. The Lady Yellowjackets outscored the Lady Lions 9-2 in the first but it looked like Manila might come back as they scoured Bay 11-9 in the second to pull within five at the half, 18-13. Manila went cold in the second half only scoring two points in the entire half to trail 34-15 in the third and falling in the fourth.
Amanda Henson led MJHS with six points followed by KC Chipman with five. Deborah White and Holly McGuire both added two for the junior Lady Lions.
Amber McMasters scored 13 and Lee Davis 12 for the junior Lady Yellowjackets.
