Manila city employees held their annual Christmas party Saturday at the Community Center.
Manila Mayor Melvin Browning welcomed guests to the celebration. Drawings were held for door prizes with all employees receiving a gift.
Special awards were presented to several individuals.
City Superintendent Henry Ford presented Gerald Daniel an award for his 23 years of service to the city. He also receive a jacket.
Fred Burks, retired police officer, received a plaque, a watch inscribed with his name, and a "Cops" wall clock. Manila Chief of Police Jackie Hill made the presentation. Burks served 27-1/2 years with the Manila Police Department. He is the first police officer to ever retire from the department.
Mayor Browning presented police officer Joanie Isbell and Captain Larry Williams awards for bravery. Browning said the two officers went above and beyond the call of duty when they went unprotected into a burning house and saved a woman's life.
Captain Williams received the Officer of the Year Award presented by Chief Hill.
Ricky McFall with the street department received an award for "losing more tools than anyone else."
Browning was presented a personalized desk set.
