Caraway Police Department receives three vests

Wednesday, December 12, 2001

National Association of Chiefs of Police in Miami, Fla., recently donated three vests to the Caraway Police Department at no charge.

The bullet-resistant armor vests cost approximately $800 each. Chief Jerry Vaughn, Assistant Chief Troy Kelems and Patrolman Dwight Whittenburg will each have a vest.

"With the small cities' economy like it is, we are very proud to receive these vests. It's a savings to our town and the city of Caraway. We are very appreciative that the organization has programs like this and we can be a part of it," Chief Vaughn said.

The National Association of Chiefs of Police is a non-profit, tax exempt, educational association of command law enforcement officers within the United States, its territories and military forces.

Membership is open to all municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement command officers and to directors of security agencies in the United States.
