Dustin W. Carey - Blue Springs, Mo.

Dustin W. Carey of Blue Springs, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, from severe head injuries after being thrown from the passenger seat of a 1993 Chevrolet Camaro that rolled over on Missouri Highway 78 near Independence. Accident investigators believe the car was traveling at least 100 miles per hour when the car left the road. Seatbelts were not in use.

Carey was born Nov. 25, 1983, in Houston, Texas. He had lived most of his life in the Blue Springs area. He was a senior at Blue Springs South High School and a member of Colonial Hills Community of Christ Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Gayle Carey, in 1995.

Survivors include his father, Danny W. Carey, of the home; his sister, Angela Carey of Kansas City; his paternal grandfather, Frank Carey of Liberty, Mo.; his paternal grandmother, Bobbie Picotte of Manila; and his great-grandfather, Ned Rice of Manila.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Oct. 15 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial was in Independence, Mo., in Mound Grove Cemetery.
