Joe Stephen Selby, 52, of 1813 Crestview, Jonesboro, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Leachville, he lived in Leachville and Blytheville before moving to Jonesboro in 1992. He was a retired agent for Reliable Life Insurance Company, was a graduate of Leachville High School, and attended Arkansas State University.
He was a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro where he served as an Elder.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Swink Selby, of the home; a daughter, Marti Jo Selby, of Jonesboro; a son, "Toby" Joe Stephen Selby II, of Jonesboro; his father, Howard Selby, of Leachville; a sister, Beverly Brown, of Natchitoches, La.; a brother, Ronald Selby, of Leachville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Selby; and by his stepmother, Ruth Selby.
The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Richard Akins and Jimmy Adcox officiating. A graveside service was held at 3:30 p.m. at the Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Active pallbearers were David Jordan, Jason Miller, Jeff Steiling, Doug Stewart, Bob Reddell. and Dr. Lee Woodruff. Honorary pallbearers included the Eldership of Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro
