Curtis Loveless - Dell

Curtis Loveless, 81, of Dell, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. Born Nov. 21, 1919, in Haleyville, Ala., the son of Curtis Samuel and Pearlie Mae Benefield Loveless, he was a retired farmer and a longtime Dell resident. He was a member and deacon of Dell Baptist Church. He served as mayor of Dell for 28 years. His community service included serving on the Housing Authority Board, as well as being a former Dell school board member. He was a Mason, former vice president and president of the Mississippi County Farm Bureau and a former president of the Dell Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by a sister, Lois Hatcher of Detroit; two grandchildren, Sean Shelton of Augusta, Ga., and Joseph Shayeb of Jackson, Miss.; and a great-grandchild, Colby Shelton of Augusta.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maudean Loveless; two daughters, Linda Loveless and Sharon Shayeb; two brothers, C.C. Loveless and Clayborn Loveless; and a sister, Jink Files.

The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Rev. Bobby Floyd officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
