Rose Evelyn Hampton, 79, of Manila, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at her home. Born at Greenfield, she spent much of her life in Pekin, Ill., and had been a Manila resident for the past 23 years. She was the widow of Ed Hampton and was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Manila.
She is survived by a son, Larry Hampton of Manila; a daughter, Lisa Hampton Nettles of Manila; three brothers, Eugene Ray of Texas, Roy "Buddy Ray of North Carolina and Junior Hayes of Marked Tree; four sisters, Marie Stallings of Manila, Katherine Bostic of California, Wilma Caluse of Illinois and Inis Lies of Florida; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Chuck Hampton.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Robert White officiating. Burial was in Manila Cemetery.
