Leachville Council OKs water connection fee increase (03/10/04)
The Leachville City Council voted to increase water connection and reconnection fees, increase employee salary, and continue with street cleaning at the regular city council meeting March 1. The council voted to increase the reconnection free for water customers to $40, and original connection fee to $125. Two forms of identification will be required for water to be turned on, and the applicant must be at least 18 years old. This information is to be kept on file, for future reference...
Grant awarded to Buffalo Island EMS (03/10/04)
The Buffalo Island EMS has been awarded a$ 3,606 grant from Arkansas Department of Health to purchase new ambulance equipment and supplies. Nursing student Andy Fletcher and EMT Kristian Nuckles applied for the 75/25 matching grant in October 2003, and received news last month from David Taylor, Arkansas Department of Health director, that they had been selected as a grant recipient. Christy and Ferrel Duffel moved to Manila a little over a year ago. Brother Ferrel accepted the pastorate of Manila First Baptist Church in February 2003. Mr. Duffel was pastor at the First Baptist Church in Hardy, where they lived for six years. Mrs. Duffel and their daughter, Jennifer, remained in Hardy through the week until school was out in June.
