You may think Easter 2018 is over unless you worship the risen Lord, Jesus Christ, with the Methodists, who just celebrated the first Sunday of Easter this week. Yes, next Sunday is the second Sunday of Easter and so on through May 13th, the seventh Sunday of Easter. This celebrates the Resurrection through the Ascension, which is followed by Pentecost Sunday May 20 on the traditional Church (and United Methodist) calendar. And we started looking towards Easter seven Sundays in advance, too! The church’s colors turned purple for altar cloths, Bible bookmark, and banners until Easter Sunday’s lily white took over, lasting to Holy Spirit-red at Pentecost.
Joy is embedded in God’s changing of Nature’s seasons, likewise there is much joy to be found in the Church’s seasons. As you know or can imagine, reflect or remember from your own experience, the run up to Christmas starts at Thanksgiving, then a little lull until Easter, then before you know it, summer arrives again around Memorial Day to burn through Labor Day. Then the school year starts, autumn arrives, and hunting, Thanksgiving, Christmas...you know the cycle.
God put cycles of seasons before us naturally and spiritually. Every day and night cycle is a dance of life. We find time for eating, working, relaxing, and rest. But do we find time for the One, Who makes it possible for us to eat, work, relax, rest, dance and sense the seasons of life? Our Creator wants to revive you and your spirit into a blossoming spiritual springtime right now. Let God’s Word be blessed seed sown into your life and soul; let God’s Son shine on that Word in your heart; and, let the Holy Spirit rain upon you fully.
Read the Word in the Book, in the seasons of nature, in the Church’s calendar, in the fellowship of friends and family. There is a Manila church family just waiting to love and adopt every man, woman, boy, and girl, who is still looking for a church home. All you have to do is follow the impulse and invitation from God to come...enjoy and be blessed.
