Part II: Carpenters for Christ, checking our spiritual tool belt
The right angle, our cornerstone. Psalms 118:22-23, Ephesians 2:19-22
Let's look at the carpenters square for a moment. It is a tool used to lay out a square or right angle of 90` and it has two arms. The wider arm which is about two inches wide is called the blade and the smaller arm is called the tongue.
It is interesting that the wider arm is called the blade. Looking at our spiritual square, God's word is referred to as two edged sword, which is a blade. Hebrews 4:12, 13
When we use God's word to preach and teach we use it to put things on the square and show the right angle. With that blade we should see that the whole of the scriptures should be open and applied that man may see their sin. I Timothy 4:12-16, John 16:8
How do we do that? How do we make sure that man comes in contact with the blade of the spiritual Square? The tongue, the smaller arm on the square, of the two arms on the spiritual square we are the smaller of the two, not putting ourselves above God's word, but using the blade along with our witnessing to mark those right angles to build on. Our tongue is used to spread the gospel and give words of encouragement. The bible gives many scripture for us to see the importance that we go tell. II Timothy 3:14-17, Matthew 28:18, Luke 9:1-9
We should be on the square; using God's word to tell the world of his love and the sacrifice that Christ gave on Calvary. We should use the spiritual square to build, God's kingdom and our brothers and sisters up in Christ. Galatians 6:2, I Thessalonians 5:11
