Don't ignore the LordPosted Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at 2:11 PM
Psalm 10 is a strong indictment against any who refuse God. The bible refers to them as wicked. In strong words like boasters, covers, cheaters, dishonest, liars in wait who watch for the innocent and helpless and waits to take advantage of them. They have mouths full of cursing and have forgotten God.
Now let me say right off that all people who deny the Lord are not all horrible. I have known many people who are upright citizens and make good neighbors. However, I have known some this bad and even worse. But I don't want to pick on someone and say all unbelievers are all bad people.
I would warn us all that the bible says we are not saved by just being good. We can be a find upstanding person in the sight of men and still be lost in the sin of unbelief. Jesus said, "I am the way the truth and the life. No man cometh to the father but by me." It also says, "For by grace are ye saved, through faith, not of works that you might boast about it."
With this said Psalm 10 describes what a man might become if he ignores the Lord and tries to dismiss Him from his mind. In Psalm 10 verse 3 the bible says, "The wicked through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts."
In verse 6 of that same chapter it says, "He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity."
In verse 11 it says, "He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hides his face; he will never see it. Statements like these often characterize those who deny god and feel no need to consider Him and his ways.
There are three attitudes in these verses we need to note. He gives God no consideration and tries to dismiss the thought from his mind.
If a person can keep himself ignorant of the word of god he can find comfort in his wickedness. He ignores nay fact he will one day give an account for the life he has lived.
A second word is the word adversity. He says, "I will never have adversity." I was talking with an older lady recently and we talked about having health problems we thought we would never have when we were young. Foolish is the person who never considers that life is without consequences.
The third thing he thinks, "if there is a God then he is forgetful. He won't remember his sins and his wrongs.
When a man has this attitude he thinks God is like him. But the Lord is all that the bible says about Him. I thank the Lord for giving me a good understanding. My relation to God is "little me" and great, God almighty. He brought me into this world and someday he will bring me back to Him for me to give an accounting. I want to come His way.
