School is out to the joy of the students and teachers. With the end of the school year comes summer activities, including weekends at the lakes, yard work, barbecues, vacations, and family reunions.
If you are like me, I think the only days to remember in June are Father's Day and the first day of summer.
We miss a lot of celebrations because we just don't know all of those special or wacky days.
As I have done in the past, I looked on line and found a calendar with all of the special June days. Now we know we have something to celebrate every day in June.
June 1: National Doughnut Day (always the first Friday in June). It is also Dare Day and Flip a Coin Day but my favorite of the three would be Doughnut Day.
June 2: National Bubba Day. I had no idea the day existed so I Googled it. It is a day set aside for brothers or friends referred to as Bubba. It is also National Rocky Road Day and National Trails Day (the first Saturday in June).
June 3: Only one is listed, only one is listed, Repeat Day (I said “Repeat Day”).
June 4: Applesauce Cake Day, sounds good; hug your cat day; National Cheese Day; and Old Maid's Day.
June 5: Hot Air Balloon Day and World Environment Day.
June 6: D-Day, WWII; National Gardening Exercise Day; and National Yo-Yo Day. (When I was growing up we all had yo-yo's. It was one of our main toys. I did not know there was a National Yo-Yo Day.)
June 7: National Chocolate Ice Cream Day and VCR Day.
I thought VCRs are about obsolete but evidently there is a day set aside for them.
