Let it snow

Posted Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 3:09 PM

We had our snow the last week in January. It gave the students and teachers a few snow days as the roads got nasty. I don't know about everyone else, but we stayed pretty close to home for a few days.

I had to report to jury duty on Monday morning and I have to say I was a bit nervous driving to Blytheville. I took my time and made it but I was not the least bit comfortable. I didn't get chosen to serve and it was a little better driving home close to noon.

Winter may not be over -- I heard the ground hog saw his shadow on Tuesday morning. We'll see if his prediction is correct. I think if he sees his shadow we get six more weeks of winter.

I want to thank everyone who took time to answer the poll question about the ice storm. 36 percent said they were much better prepared; 26 percent a little better; 28 percent no change and 8.8 percent said they were worse off. I think I am in the category with the 8.8 percent. I think I did have a gallon or two of water last year.

I was looking through some old newspapers from last year and after we had our January ice storm, we had a snow the last of February. We will just have to wait and see what the next few weeks brings our way.

I am sure we will all be ready for a spring time when it arrives.

we all got a big snow!, old timers used to say it was good for the soil meant a good crop in the spring
