Summer vacation is overPosted Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at 9:31 AM
School bells will ring on Aug. 18 for all all the schools in our area. Hopefully everyone had a great summer and is ready to hit the books once again. I'll be visiting the area schools catching up on the news and introducing the new teachers. Hopefully everyone will have a great 2008-09 school year.
I spent a few days in Branson last week and it was hot, hot, and hotter. As soon as we got home, the temperature went down a little. The gas prices had gone down which made the trip a little better. We find ourselves watching for the lowest prices as we are driving along. I hope they keep going down before the price starts climbing again. With a little sun block we all made it home safe, sound, and only slightly sunburned. It is always good to go, but it is also good to be back home. Paean to Leachville
I don't think any other place on earth smelled as sweet as Leachville in the spring. The land gave up its winter cold and opened to the sun, releasing little flowers, grasses and fragrances. Mama's turnip greens went to blossom and seed, smelling of life and the splendor of spring. Tiny blue and yellow butterflies fluttered and danced, the ditch gave up pungent odors and fishin' birds sang to the sun. Earth scents mingled and giggled together, bursting, blooming, calling to me......
